Our Story

Established in 2004, the Child's Place Family Daycare, LLC (CPFD) has consistently offered top-quality care to area children of all ages. The vision of Christine Child, who in 2004 was the mother of one, the Child's Place Family Daycare was created to offer working parents a child care option they could rely on and feel comfortable with.

I realized back in 2003, during my own search for child care, that the quality of the various daycare programs my husband and I had investigated ranged from good to very poor. Surely there was a need for quality, reliable care from a loving, well educated and responsible individual? Having experienced first hand the difficulty (and stress!) associated with finding the right child care for our baby, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I contacted The Fairfax County Office for Children, completed the process of obtaining my daycare license, and the Child's Place Family Daycare was born. Since then, I've added two more children to my biological family, and many, many more to my daycare family!

My child care philosophy is simple. I believe in loving each child as if he or she were my own, acknowledging each child as an individual deserving of respect, and nurturing each child so he or she can grow to fulfill his or her potential. Along the way, I dole out countless hugs and kisses and a whole lot of positive reinforcement and praise.

what is family daycare?

Choosing child care is one of the most important and difficult decisions a parent will have to make. In contrast to large commercial daycare centers, family daycare is provided in the caregiver's home. Studies show that the first three years are critical to a child's development. Here, at the Child's Place Family Daycare, your young child can thrive in a home-like atmosphere, receiving the individual love and attention that early childhood experts agree are crucial.

Unlike commercial daycare centers, which often have large groups of children and many employees, the Child's Place Family Daycare consists of a small group of children and one caregiver. This arrangement benefits the children tremendously. It allows them to develop a sense of security and a comfort level not easily found in larger settings. A system with a primary caregiver fosters an environment in which meaningful and lasting relationships can develop between caregivers and children as well as between caregivers and families.

At the heart of any good child care program are the relationships between the children and the provider and between the parents and the provider. Here at the Child's Place Family Daycare, we pride ourselves on the development of loving relationships in which babies and toddlers can learn, grow and explore.
